130 to be made redundant at Flextronics
130 people are to be made redundant by electronic components company Flextronics in Cork.The employees voted at a meeting four weeks ago to take voluntary redundancy after the company announced worldwide restructuring plans.
The redundancies are due to commence at the end of this month.
95 general operatives and 35 administrative staff are to go at the Cork City plant.
It is understood that leaves up to 150 staff and contract employees working at the plant.
Located at Kilbarry Industrial Estate, it once employed over 1100 people.
Last Friday, its sister company in Limerick announced that the 150 remaining jobs there are to go by the end of this year as the company winds down its Limerick operation.
No one was available for comment at the company this morning.
